*burp burp* i hate it wheneve i drink those carbonated drinks, coca cola, pepsi, sprite and 7 Up..i will definitely end up burping. I know carbonated drinks are really bad for health. The amount of sugar they put in each can makes the ants go hyper!!!

Carbonated drinks are drinks that have carbon dioxide added to them. Carbon dioxide is colourless and flavourless. Carbonated beverage an effervescent drink that releases carbon dioxide under conditions of normal atmospheric pressure. Carbonation may occur naturally in spring water that has absorbed carbon dioxide at high pressures underground. It can also be a byproduct of fermentation. Soda is a pressurized mixture of flavored syrup and water to which carbon dioxide gas has been added. In modern bottling plants, very cold liquid and carbon dioxide ([CO.sub.2]) are mixed together in big tanks called carbo-coolers, or carbonators. The colder the temperature,the more gas can dissolve in the liquidarbonation is maintained within a bottle or can because the air pressure in the space above the liquid in the container is at least equal to the amount of carbonation in the liquid. This keeps the gas suspended within the liquid until the container is opened. After the container is opened, the air pressure pushing down on the liquid is no longer sufficient to hold in the gas, so the carbon dioxide in the liquid gradually begins escaping.

The lower the level of liquid in the container, the more quickly the drink will lose its carbonation. Carbonation is generally done in massive tanks in which the levels of liquid and carbon dioxide gas can be easily controlled. Of course, temperature plays a major role in the carbonation process as well. A liquid with a lower temperature can dissolve more gas before reaching equilibrium than a warmer one, so most drink mediums are kept at a point very near the freezing point while the carbonation process is undertaken.

I love those junk food, super ring,mamee,twisties,double decker. You name it, I have try all of it. And i was addicted to it. Everytime there is a movie or drama on tv..you can see me munching those yummy crunchy junk food. But later on i realize what junk food can do to you. I start to put on alot of weight and sometimes i become so dizzy. At first i never know that these is all the effect i got from eating those devil junk food.

Well, if your wondering whatz really in that packet of tasty looking junk food, wonder no more because i gonna tell u just how bad is that food is. MSG are usually added into these junk food. MSG adds flavor and without and, without exception, it is added because the food being prepared for sale to the public is of low quality due to cheap ingredients or due to too long shelf life.MSG is also concealed as a chemical compound in many cases so that the public will not realize they are getting a chemical fix, or so that they will not realize they are buying rubbish quality food. Also, there are natural sources of MSG which complicate things. These natural sources, like carageenan, are technically a food source in themselves, and many people who are sensitive to manufactured MSG can tolerate natural sources.

MSG, unlike many things we eat, can pass through the brain barrier and directly affect the function of the brain. Like marijuana and crack, MSG will cause the brain to change how it controls the rest of the body. Diarrhea may follow a dose of MSG in as little as twenty minutes. This is because the MSG is entering the blood in the stomach, rushing to the brain, and the brain is telling your plumbing department that it is under new management. The result is that you will have to rush to a restroom immediately or you will totally lose control. Other people do not have this, but severe headache results. Some people have heart related reactions, such as tachecardia or blood pressure spikes for no apparent reason.

I can already imagine whatz for breakfast today. Soft white bread with its hard brown crumb, spread with a little of the margarine will definitely make my day=) What would be better then heaven breakfast. I always like my bread with margarine..blame my mum for that. Me and mum loves bread with margarine and i like it with abit of cheese on it! Well..as my mum is the health freak,we only use margarine instead if the normal butter. I did wonder what is the great different between these two? Arent they look just the same?

Lets see the differences between butter and margarine. Margarines contain more trans fat than butter, the total of trans and saturated fat (the LDL-C raising fats) is always less than the total for butter. The total for butter is much higher because of all the saturated fat that it contains. There are two common type of fats present-saturated fat and unsaturated fat. Saturated fats are usually found in butter and animal fats are known as the bad fats. Whereas, unsaturated fats are commonly found in vegetable oils,seed and nuts.

Vegetable oils are commonly referred to as "polyunsaturated". This simply means that there are several double bonds present. Vegetable oils may be converted from liquids to solids by the hydrogenation reaction. Margarines and shortenings are "hardened" in this way to make them solid or semi-solids. Vegetable oils which have been partially hydrogenated, are now partially saturated so the melting point increases to the point where a solid is present at room temperature. The degree of hydrogenation of unsaturated oils controls the final consistency of the product. Also during partial hydrogenation, some of the unsaturated fatty acids, which are normally found as the cis isomer about the double bonds, are changed to a trans double bond and remain unsaturated. Trans fatty acids of the same length and weight as the original cis fatty acids, still have the same number of carbons, hydrogens, and oxygens but they are now shaped in a more linear form, as opposed to the bent forms of the cis isomers. Well, margarine should not be taken in a large quantity as the trans fat in it is harmful and can lead to heart disease.

The weather is just too hot!! HOT!! Plus me walking back home everyday with this HOT weather does not make me feel any better. I always..i mean ALWAYS come back home with dripping sweats. And that obviously does not make me feel any better. The first thing i do once im back home is SHOWER!! Standing under the cold pouring cold water screams HEAVEN=). I automatically feels refresh and relaxed!

Shower is never complete without the creamy, sweet scent, and honey toned shower cream. The creamy sweet smell never fails to make my busy day feels better. Have you ever wonder how shower creams are made of? Shower creams have almost the same making method of the soap. Oils and fats for soap are compounds of glycerin and a fatty acid. When oils are mixed with an alkali, they form glycerin and the sodium salt of the fatty acid. To make soap, we must break the fat into its fatty acid and glycerol constituents. The fatty acid has a long hydrocarbon tail which is soluble in fats, and a polar oxygen end which is soluble in water. Thus a fatty acid in solution acts as a soap by dissolving fats in one end of the molecule and water in the other. When we use a strong base, such as lye to break apart or hydrolyse the fat, the fatty acid is present as a large cation which is polar at one end and non-polar at the other. Just as we can have sodium chloride and sodium carbonate which are soluble in water, we can have sodium octanoate, the sodium salt of octanoic acid, which is also soluble in water.

Saponification is the term applied to the hydrolysis of fats using a strong alkali like lye. The reaction is [C₁₅H₃₁CO]₃[C₃H₅O₃](s) + 3 NaOH(aq) -----> 3 C₁₅H₃₁COONa(aq) + C₃H₅(OH)₃(aq) fat(s) + 3 lye(aq) -----> 3 sodium palmitate(aq) + glycerol(aq)
While this reaction may appear intimidating because of the long formulas, it is, in fact, quite simple. It could be written generally as:
[RCO]₃[C₃H₅O₃](s) + 3 NaOH(aq) -----> 3 RCOONa(aq) + C₃H₅(OH)₃(aq)
Where "R" is some long carbon hydrogen chain. If you look on a list of ingredients on a soap, you will find things like "sodium stearate," "sodium palmitate," or, generally, "sodium somebiglongnameate." This is simply specifying the particular fatty acids present in the soap.When fat is introduced to a soap solution, the non-polar tail of the fatty acids dissolves in the non-polar fat, leaving the water-soluble oxygen end at the surface of the fat globule. With enough soap, these fat globules become covered with a water-soluble coating and disperse throughout the solution, as in the last figure.

I never know making a soap bar needs to under go so many process. Well, atleast i know now what`s in my soap bar=)

Ever since im young, i love to play with perfumes and those lotions that have nice smells. My dad will always have his perfume on whenever he goes to work. I`ll watch him spray the elegent, classy looking bottle onto his neck. I love the way he smells. He feels so fresh and clean. Sometimes dad will spray abit of his perfume on my shirt. I always wanted a perfume of my own especially the one with fruity smell. It smells soo yummy =)

I even try making my own perfume when i was young. I thought perfumes are made of water and flowers. Hahaha..of course "my perfume" doesnt smells nice! But then i learned how perfumes are made. Thanx to my dad!

Perfumes are made up of a bland of different aromas that usually comes from essential oils.Perfume formulations can be expressed in volumetric or weight proportions of each of its components. Perfumes today are being made and used in different ways than in previous centuries. There are major fragrance categories - Floral, Oriental, Floriental, Chypre, Green Marine and Fruit. Perfume is made from about 78% to 95% of specially denatured ethyl alcohol and a remainder of essential oils. Perfume is the costliest form of fragrance with 22% of essential oils. Synthetic chemicals must be used to re-create the smells of non-oily substances. Some perfume ingredients are animal products. Typical plant products include anise, bay leaf, bergamot, cardamom, cedar wood, eucalyptus, frankincense, gardenia, geranium, iris, jasmine, lavender, lemon, lilac, lily, lily of the valley, magnolia, moss, neroli, orange, orris, patchouli, pine, raspberry, rose, sage, sandalwood, tuberose, vanilla, violet and ylang-ylang. Perfumes are made to last longer as the chemical content in it will make the smell to last longer.

My obsession towards diamond started when i was little. Every sunday mum will be watching English movies where the story line will be the normal *boy meets girl and girl meets boy,they fight,they get together, and the finally live happily ever after* The part that i love most about these movies are when the hero will kneel down to propose the heroin. I always enjoyed looking at the diamond rings. The shape of the diamond and how perfectly it glitters under the light always leave me speechless. People says that diamond is girl`s best friend. Its just like a magnet that attracts the girls. We simply fall in love with its beauty. And yes..i always wonder where do diamonds come from,what are they made of? why is diamond so expensive?

What i learn from my teachers and internet are that diamonds do come in alot of colours for example..blue,red,yellow,pink and white. Diamonds are the hardestnatural material known. he hardness of diamonds contributes to its suitability as a gemstone. Because it can only be scratched by other diamonds, it maintains its polish extremely well. Unlike many other gems, it is well-suited to daily wear because of its resistance to scratching—perhaps contributing to its popularity as the preferred gem in engagment ring or wedding ring , which are often worn every day.

The diamond crystal lattice is exceptionally strong and only atoms of nitrogen, boron and hydrogen can be introduced into diamond during the growth at significant concentrations (up to atomic percents). Transition metals Ni and Co, which are commonly used for growth of synthetic diamond by the high-pressure high-temperature techniques, have been detected in diamond as individual atoms, however the maximum concentration is 0.01% for Ni and even much less for Co. Note however, that virtually any element can be introduced in diamond by ion implantation. Nitrogen is by far the most common impurity found in gem diamonds. Nitrogen is responsible for the yellow and brown in diamonds. Boron is responsible for the gray blue colors.and perhaps pink and red diamonds. In order of rarity, colorless diamond, by far the most common, is followed by yellow and brown, by far the most common colors, then by blue, green, black, translucent white, pink, violet, orange, purple, and the rarest, red. "Black," or , diamonds are not truly black, but rather contain numerous dark inclusions that give the gems their dark appearance.

Colored diamonds contain impurities or structural defects that cause the coloration, while pure or nearly pure diamonds are transparent and colorless. Most diamond impurities replace a carbon atom in the crystal lattice , known as a carbon flaw . The most common impurity, nitrogen, causes a slight to intense yellow coloration depending upon the type and concentration of nitrogen present. Color in diamond has two additional sources: irradiation (usually by alpha particles), that causes the color in green diamonds; and physical deformation of the diamond crystal known as plastic deformation. Plastic deformation is the cause of color in some brown.
Learning about diamonds makes me more in love with it. No wonder diamonds are so expensive.
